M Bar C gathers to support Walk MS for another year.
On Sunday, April 28th, M Bar C Construction team members started our morning a little differently than usual. With our coffee in hand, sneakers on and families in tow, we headed towards the Carlsbad Flower Fields. Together we joined with hundreds of individuals from across San Diego County to participate in Walk MS 2019. Walk MS is a yearly event that brings together a community of people with the purpose to raise funds for everyone affected by multiple sclerosis.
Multiple Sclerosis is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system. MS is considered an immune-mediated disorder in which the immune system incorrectly attacks healthy tissue within the central nervous system. Although anyone can develop MS, it is estimated that three times as many women as men develop MS. Worldwide, more than 2.3 million people have been diagnosed with MS.
Each year our M Bar C Family gathers together to support this very worthy cause and we are proud to walk alongside those who are battling this disease and those who are helping them battle it. Walking with this community, just like we are walking with the Eric Paredes Save a Life Foundation, we realize that each walk participant has a different story, a different connection to MS and the role that it’s played in their lives and those around them. One of our M Bar C team members and walk participants, Meg Warren shared her story;
“I had a dear friend diagnosed with MS many years before we met but witnessed first-hand how utterly debilitating this disease can be. As it progressed over the next 9 years, I knew there was nothing within my power that would cure her and for that, I felt very helpless. After her passing in 2012, it became apparent to me that bringing awareness to the disease and support in finding a cure WAS within my power. I have been a regular donor and supporter of the MS Society for the past 7 years and was THRILLED when I learned that M Bar C was an active corporate participant in the Carlsbad MS Walk! This was my second year participating as an M Bar C team member and I couldn’t be more honored or proud. It is events like this, people who care and awesome companies like M Bar C that bring awareness to the community and more importantly, HOPE to those affected and living with MS every day.”
